It was a Saturday and we decided to visit a couple Connecticut breweries and grab so BBQ. Our adventure took us to Relic Brewery in Plainville Connecticut, located on Whiting St. The brewery is set back and we drove by because it seemed the building couldn’t possibly hold a brewery. After turning around we pulled into the parking lot. The parking lot was empty because we arrived a few minutes prior to the brewery opening.
After waiting a couple minutes the doors were unlocked and the people started to flood in. Mark the head brewer was greeting and pouring samples and talking shop with the couple in front of us. When it was our turn to order we grabbed a flight of some of their offerings. We learned that the brewery creates the beer there but contracts with another Connecticut brewery to fulfill mass production for distribution. But the samples we had packed a punch with delicious IPAs and a one off stout leading the way.
The brewery has plenty of on-site parking, we didn’t notice if Whiting St. offers parking as its a main road, however the lot is pretty big. The brewery has no food options and considering it was a Saturday and they didn’t have a food truck we assume food is nonexistent. We did notice a couple brought their dog which didn’t seem to cause an issue. The brewery offers full pours, samples, crowler/growler fills, and can sales. The space is small with limited sitting. This is definitely a place to grab a quick brew and some beer to go, not lounge around playing board games and eating. But the beer offerings are top notch and we look forward to a return visit.
